Cost Optimization of a Replacement Model after Extended Two-Phase Warranty

초록

Purpose: This paper proposes a replacement model following the expiration of an extended twophase warranty for a repairable system. Methods: Jung [12] analyzed the expected warranty cost of an extended two-phase warranty policy for a repairable system. In this paper, we suggests a replacement model under the extended two-phase warranty that has been proposed by Jung [12]. We also propose an optimal period of replacement after the extended two-phase warranty period. To determine the optimal replacement policy, we adopted an expected cost rate per unit time. Results: We derived the expressions for the total expected cost, expected length of the cycle, and expected cost rate per unit time from the user’s point of view. We discuss the optimal replacement strategy and the uniqueness of the solution for the decision variable. Numerical examples are provided to illustrate the proposed replacement model. Conclusion: This paper proposes a replacement model after an extended two-phase warranty and suggests an optimal length of replacement from the user’s point of view.
