여성의 건설기능직 참여제고 및 숙련개발을 위한 개선과제 연구

The construction industry is a high status in the national economy and has a huge impact on employment and the overall economy. Construction workers’ abilities take up a large portion of the overall quality, safety and productivity of the construction industry. Nevertheless, the domestic construction industry has seen a decrease in the influx of new functional workers, which has led to the rapid aging of the functional workforce. However, studies showing measures to actively utilize and develop women with low participation rates in construction industry are far from sufficient. In fact, the construction industry is one of the most male-dominated industries in Korea, and women’s participation is very low compared to other industries. This study found that it is necessary to actively utilize female workers to improve the supply and demand of skilled workers due to aging in the Korean construction industry, and conducted interviews with key actors in the construction industry, including female construction workers, researchers, a policy officer, a training official, and a labor union leader. Through this research, we proposed support measures including formalizing access routes, expanding education and training programs, improvement of convenience facilities, and education on prevention of sexual harassment.
