초록
최근 미디어 콘텐츠 산업의 2가지 특징은 아동용 콘텐츠의 성장과 트랜스 미디어 스토리텔링 확산이다. 성인용 콘텐츠에서 두각을 나타낸 트랜스 미디어 스토리텔링은 아동용 콘텐츠에서도 발전 가능성이 무한하다. 본 연구의 목적은 융복합 연구를 통해 아동용 트랜스 미디어 콘텐츠의 개발에 새로운 디자인 방향을 제안하는 것이다. 따라서 아동용 트랜스 미디어 콘텐츠를 스토리텔링과 이용자를 기준으로 다학제적으로 분석했다. 그리고 복수의 미디어 플랫폼을 통한 콘텐츠 구성을 가능하게 하는 스토리텔링 구조를 반영한 아동용 트랜스 미디어 콘텐츠 <Traveler Jake>의 프로토타입 디자인을 제시해보았다. 연구 과정은 다음과 같은 순서로 이루어진다. 첫째, 연구의 목적과 이론적 배경에 대해 기술하였다. 아동용 트랜스 미디어 콘텐츠의 확장 가능성을 제시한 뒤, 헨리 젠킨스(Henry Jenkins)의 트랜스 미디어 개념과 OSMU(원소스 멀티유스) 하나의 소스 즉 하나의 콘텐츠로 여러 상품 유형을 전개한다는 뜻와 트랜스 미디어를 비교를 토대로 아동용 트랜스 미디어의 개념을 기술하였다. 둘째, 아동용 트랜스 미디어 콘텐츠의 개념을 스토리텔링과 이용자 측면에서 분석했다. 스토리텔링 요소는 에듀테인먼트, 음악, 캐릭터라는 3가지로, 이용자 요소는 부모세대와 아동 2가지로 세분화하였다. 셋째, 선택된 아동용 트랜스 미디어 콘텐츠 사례 4가지를 스토리텔링과 이용자를 기준으로 비교 분석하였다. 결론적으로는, 이전 장의 분석 결과를 바탕으로, 아동용 콘텐츠와 트랜스 미디어를 융합한 새로운 창작 아동용 트랜스 미디어 콘텐츠 <Traveler Jake>의 프로토타입 디자인을 제시하였다.
Abstract
The two features of recent media content industry are the growth of children's content and spread of transmedia storytelling. Transmedia storytelling, which stands out in adult content field, has also enormous potential in children's content field. The purpose of this study is to propose the new direction of design in development of transmedia content for children by convergence study. Therefore, we analyzed transmedia storytelling based on storytelling and users in multi and interdisciplinary way. And we presented a prototype design of the children's transmedia content <Traveler Jake> which reflects storytelling structure allowing multi platform for content. The research process is structured as follows. Firstly, the purpose of the study and the theoretical background were described. After presenting the extensibility of transmedia content for children, we described the concept of transmedia for children based on Henry Jenkins' concept of transmedia and comparison of OSMU and transmedia. Secondly, the concept of transmedia content for children was analyzed in terms of storytelling and users. Storytelling elements were divided into three categories: edutainment, music and characters, and user elements were divided into two categories: parents' generation and children. Thirdly, the selected four transmedia content cases for children were compared and analyzed based on the storytelling and users. In conclusion, based on the results of the analysis in the previous chapter, we suggested a prototype design of new children's transmedia content named <Traveler Jake> converging media for children and transmedia.
