Benefit-based Technology Acceptance Model: Empirical Test of Smartmasks Design

Recently, COVID-19 is a hot topic in the world, and then, the mask has become the biggest and most common demand of people. So many scholars at home and abroad are studying the topic of mask. This study also investigates consumer benefits and adoption of smartmasks design among Chinese consumers. The technology acceptance model (TAM) was our theoretical framework, along with the constructs of external variables (social, emotional, functional benefits). Data from 500 self-administered online survey (www.sojump.com) collected from July 1st to 10th in 2020 were used in this study. Findings indicate that TAM is an effective conceptual framework in explaining consumer response to the technology products. Meanwhile, functional benefit play the most important role on the perceived ease of use, and perceived usefulness. According to initial constructs of TAM, perceived usefulness is a completely mediation variable between perceived ease of use and intention to use. The more results and implications are discussed in this study.
