올리베티 타입라이터 타이포그래피디자인에 대한 연구

The history of typewriters was dealt with by writers and researchers. However, the interest shown in the origin of typewriter machines does not show interest in printed letters, one of the reasons for their existence. In this paper, we would like to examine Olivetti typewriter, a part of the Italian design flow, and the designers who were with Olivetti, and the design methods according to the characteristics of typeface design and typewriter. The study focused on a specific company called Olivetti, one of the most important typewriter manufacturers. The first two sections describe the context of the main topic. Introduction pages outline the history of typewriters and highlight specific facts that have led Olivetti to success. The following section, 'Typewriter and Text Composition', creates a link between historical background and machine. The typography shows the typewriter as an incidental cause of social change and new habits. The core content of this study is contained in the last two sections. They provide some examples of Olivetti's description of the type design process, the comparison of typefaces, and the influence of digital type of type typewriters. This paper contains a number of typefaces, so there is no room for a thorough analysis of the graphic shapes, but this paper tries to provide a brief overview of the type design of the 20th century for a particular product, typewriter.
