JIGSAW 협동학습법을 활용한 교양 수업에서의 회계교육 사례

초록
본고는 최근 활용이 증대되고 있는 소집단 협동학습 중 JIGSAW 방법을 교양 회계수업에 적용한 사례를 정리한 것이다. 전통적 의미의 JIGSAW 교수법은 학생들을 몇 개의 소그룹으로 나누고 각자 분담학습을 하게 하여, 이를 서로에게 가르쳐 전체적으로 하나의 종합적 지식을 완성하고 이해시키는 학습방식을 의미한다. 본 사례에서는 기존의 JIGSAW 수업의 형식은 가져오되 지식의 습득과 전달에 학습의 목적을 두지 않고, 교양교육의 관점에서 학생들의 사고력과 협업 능력을 증진시키기 위한 차별화된 수업을 설계 했다. “회계정보의 이해”라는 교양 수업을 듣는 48여 명의 수강생을 각 조에 대략 6~7명씩 배치하여 7개조로 나누고, 각각의 조원들에게 경영자, 주주, 채권자, 근로자 등 7가지의 역할을 부여하였다. 그리고 기중에 취득한 재고자산의 가치가 기말에 변동하였다면 이를 얼마라고 재무제표에 보고하는 것이 바람직할 것인지 각 조를 하나의 국가라고 생각하고 회계기준을 정하라는 과제를 부여하였다. 수업은 크게 3단계의 조별 토론을 통해 진행하였는데 1단계에서는 주어진 질문에 대해 각자 생각을 토론하고 각 조의 결론을 도출해 발표하게 했다. 2단계에서는 동일한 역할을 부여받은 학생들끼리 모여 자신들의 입장에서 가장 바람직한 기준이 무엇일지를 연구하여 발표하도록 하였다. 3단계에서는 학생들에게 다시 원래 조로 돌아가 1단계와 같은 토론을 다시 진행하고 각 조의 최종 결과를 발표하도록 했다. 이러한 과정을 통해 학생들은 창의적이고 비판적인 관점에서 회계 이슈를 바라보고, 소통과 협업을 통해 합리적 대안을 만드는 과정을 경험했을 것으로 기대한다. 본 연구의 의의는 회계학 수업에 새로운 교수법을 도입하고, 적용 과정을 소개했다는 점이다. 이는 작은 문제라도 교육 현장에서 발생한 일들을 고민하고 공유하는 것이 가지는 가치를 환기시킨다는 면에서 의미가 있는 것으로 생각된다.
Abstract
This paper reports the case of utilizing JIGSAW cooperative learning at the accounting class in university general education. We divided the 48 students into 7 groups, and gave them the roles like stock holder, banker, CEO, laborer, etc. The expert question is that “If the prices of inventory assets changed at the end of the fiscal year after you had bought them in the middle of that year, what prices will you report for those assets in the financial report?” This question is basically concerned with the measurements of the assets. In the conceptual framework of IFRS, chapter6 deals with this problem. They describe various measurement bases and discuss factors to be considered when selecting a measurement basis. In addition to this basic framework, the students have different roles, which can make various perspective of the answer. We anticipate there will be debates for making accounting standards in their home team. To persuade another people, they need to think critically and communicate effectively. And in their expert team, the students should think creatively and cooperate with their members to make an alternative for their interests. We think the method of this paper is quite effective way for fulfilling the purpose of general education in university. Our paper contributes to the accounting pedagogy. While this field is very important for all the accounting professors and students, little papers report the practice. We hope this paper stimulus the interests on the class affairs where we are stand on.
