불법촬영범죄에 대한 경찰수사관의 인식: 근거이론적 방법 적용

This study aims to explore the perceptions and attitudes of police investigators toward image-based sexual abuse. We conducted in-depth interview with 8 investigators and analyzed the data using the Strauss and Corbin’s(1998) ground theory method. In open coding, 88 concepts, 39 subcategories and 13 categories were derived. The axial coding identified ‘difficult victims,’ ‘untrustworthy victims,’ ‘sympathy with perpetrators’ for causal conditions, and ‘dilemma in searching for substantive truth’ for central phenomenon. Context included ‘obstacles to solving cases,’ ‘inferior working environment,’ and intervening conditions included ‘understanding victims’ pain,’ ‘perceiving perpetrators’ mind,’ ‘perception of the media,’ ‘perceiving social environment as causes of the problem.’ Action/interaction strategies were ‘avoiding provocative expression’, ‘care and compassion for victims’ and the consequence was ‘accepting occupational mandates.’ In selective coding, the main theme was ‘finding occupational mandates as a police officer between searching for substantive truth and taking care of victims. Finally, several policy implications were discussed for tackling the problems taking place in the process of criminal investigation of image-based sexual abuse.
