고령자의 근로시간 형태와 생활만족도 분석

This study examined the policy implications for working hours of the elderly by analyzing the effects of employment status, working-time type(full-time/part-time) and spontaneity of part- time jobs on life satisfaction of the elderly by gender and age, using Korean Labor & Income Panel Study(KLIPS) data. The same analyses were repeated for the elderly retirees to see if there exits any difference in satisfaction for working hours after retirement. Panel Ordered Probit model estimation showed that for men, full-time work gives the highest satisfaction before the retirement age(in 50s) and voluntary part-time work after the 60s, which was not found clearly in women. However, restricted to working women, they also tend to have higher satisfaction with part-time than full-time, voluntary part-time than involuntary part-time work. And once retired from the main job, especially in their 60s and older, both men and women have higher satisfaction with part-time than full-time or non-working status. These results suggest that more diverse forms of working hours including part-time work need to be developed and introduced for the efficient use of older workers and their happiness.
