4차 산업 시대의 지역별 비즈니스 경쟁력 변화 연구 – 전자상거래산업을 중심으로 -

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze the changes in business competitiveness by region in Korea for years as COVID-19 pandemic accelerates the environment for businesses in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution Era. Under the fast-changing business environment, the diagnosis of the current business structure of a nation could be necessary as businesses are core driving-force to the economic welfare of a nation. This paper focuses on monitoring the structures of businesses in each region of Korea through measuring the business competitiveness of entrepreneurs including ones highly dependent upon E-commerce system. Methods: Literature review and measuring regional business competitiveness based on KSIC(the Korean Standard Industrial Classification) and Isserman(1977)’s Location Quotient. Business competitiveness in each region of Korea is measured on a yearly basis from 2006 to 2018. Correlation coefficients between business competitiveness in a region and the region’s gross domestic production are also calculated to see if there is a positive or negative relationship with each other. Results: Business Changes were observed in most regions of Korea and most region shows specialization tendency by focusing on its competitiveness. Conclusion: Highly-competitive businesses over national average level in each region are observed and some of the businesses have positive relationship with their region’s gross production, from which it can be implied that competitive businesses in a region can contribute to its regional economy.
