내적 통제성, 우호적 세계관, 그리고 웰빙: 진로결정 자기효능감의 매개 역할
Internal Locus of Control, Benevolence of the World, and Well-Being: The Mediating Role of Career Decision Self-Efficacy

초록
본 연구의 목적은 자기와 세상에 대한 믿음이 웰빙에 미치는 영향을 규명하는 것이다. 구체적으로, 본 연구는 사회인지진로이론에 기대어, 내적 통제성과 우호적 세계관이 어떻게 쾌락주의적 웰빙인 행복과 자기실현적 웰빙인삶의 의미를 향상시킬 수 있는지 과정 경로를 고찰하였다. 특히, 핵심적인인지 기제로 진로결정 자기효능감의 매개 역할을 제안하고 검증하였다. 가설의 엄밀한 검증을 위해 연구모형 전반에서 Big 5 성격변수의 영향력을 통제하였고, 진로 관련 인식이 중요한 의미를 지니는 예비취업자들을 표본으로선정하였다. 국내 서울 소재 3개 대학에 재학 중인 학부생 121명을 대상으로 한 설문조사 자료를 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, Big 5를 통제한상태에서, 내적 통제성과 우호적 세계관은 행복, 삶의 의미와 유의한 정(+)의관계를 보였다. 매개모형 분석 결과, 진로결정 자기효능감이 내적 통제성과삶의 의미의 관계, 우호적 세계관과 삶의 의미의 관계를 각각 완전매개하는것으로 나타났다. 하지만 예상과 달리, 진로결정 자기효능감이 내적 통제성과 행복의 관계, 우호적 세계관과 행복의 관계를 매개하지는 못하였다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 이론적·실무적 시사점을 제시하고 연구의 한계점과 향후연구 방향을 논하였다.
Abstract
Drawing on social cognitive career theory, we explore how internal locus of control and the world assumption (i.e., the benevolence of the world) facilitate the hedonic and eudaimonic well-being outcomes (i.e., happiness and meaning in life), with a focus on the mediating role of career decision self-efficacy. Our hypotheses were tested with data from a sample of undergraduate students recruited from three large universities located in Seoul, South Korea (n = 121). We found that internal locus of control and the benevolence of the world were positively related to happiness and meaning in life, after controlling for Big 5 personality traits. We also found that career decision self-efficacy fully mediated the relationships of internal locus of control and the benevolence of the world with meaning in life. Contrary to our expectation, however, career decision self-efficacy did not mediate the relationships of internal locus of control and the benevolence of the world with happiness. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed.
