시·도교육청의 진로교육 여건과 중학생 진로개발역량 수준의 관계 분석

While career education policies have been making quantitative and qualitative progress over the past decade, concerns about regional disparities have been growing. In this background, this study analyzes the gaps and changes in career educational conditions by collecting regional data from 2016 to 2019. Furthermore, using the collected data and the data from the 2019 Career Education Survey, the study analyzes the relationship between regional career educational conditions and middle school students’ career development competencies by applying a hierarchical linear model. According to the results of the analyses, support for both human and material resources tends to be provided more for non-metropolitan areas than for the other areas. Especially, it is concentrated in the provincial areas. This trend may reflect the government’s differential aid for different areas to resolve educational disparities. Next, the number of career counseling teachers does not significantly affect the students’ career development levels; on the other hand, the number of career experience institutions, career education costs per student, and provision of education materials or not have significantly positive effects on the students’ career development levels. This study empirically confirms the effects of institutional support from the government on career education outcomes, and suggests that the government continuously support career education and improve the career counseling teacher system.
