로맨스드라마 속 역하렘 설정 연구: <사랑의 불시착>과 <스타트업>을 중심으로

A genre in which many male characters with various charms appear, surround, and have relationships with a female character is called reverse-harem. In TV dramas, she appeared in romance dramas that especially represent women's tastes. Recently, however, the representative romance dramas such as <Crash Landing On You> and <Star-Up> show the setting of reverse-harem with differences in roles of male and female characters from the past. This thesis closely examined what it was and implications contained in it. In the existing setting of reverse-harem, a female character voluntarily or forcedly entered a group composed of many men, and the male characters there were all equipped with charms desired by every woman. Those male characters formed a sort of party supporting the hero and heroine, and in this process, they realized bromance. Moreover, the male characters were such young men in their 10s-20s, and the heroine was usually protected by them in the story. However, the heroines of <Crash Landing On You> and <Start-Up> were equipped with greater physical/psychological abilities than male characters, so those heroines solved their problems or helped their growth. Also, their social status was increased like becoming a leader or boss of a group, so they could lead or command the male characters. On the contrary, male characters were eliminated from external attractions such as appearance, wealth, and power, and instead gave them material and mental deficiencies. This is to raise the status and presence of heroine who was supporting them as a benefit in return. This change of roles in male and female characters is the result of reflecting the changed perception of femininity and masculinity into romance dramas, caused by emerging feminism. This might be originated from a strategy to show various planning and formats for the increase of rating and popularity of TV dramas.
