A Study on the Revised Labor Law Analysis and Labor Management Plan for Korean SMEs to Enter the Cambodian Market

The purpose of this study is to analyze the flow of Cambodia’s revised labor law, which is important when Korean companies enter Cambodia, and present implications for personnel and labor management. Design/Methodology/Approach This study is a qualitative study that analyzes the phenomenon. Findings The direction of revision of Cambodian labor law is as follows. prohibition of discrimination, public order and morals, obligation to comply with labor laws, prohibition of forced labor. The major revision since 2018 are as follows: introducing the minimum wage system, working hours regulation(not exceeding 8 hours per day, 48 hours per week), holiday regulations(weekly holidays, public holidays), vacations(weekly/ holidays/paid vacations are 200% per week) /maternity leave, labor standards for women and young workers, occupational safety and health, national social security fund system (employment injury/medical insurance/pension), specific working conditions related to employment of foreign workers. Research Implications Currently, companies that want to enter or enter Cambodia can act as a risk factor for investment entry and decision, so the following efforts should be accompanied. First, it is necessary to prepare for the revised minimum wage and Seniority Indemnity. Second, it is necessary to strengthen the predictability of investment. Third, it is also important to actively participate in the discussion so that the voice of the company can be fulfilled. Fourth, it is also important to prepare for labor accounting by receiving advice from a professional accountant or lawyer in advance.
