초록
[연구목적]본 연구의 목적은 부채압력과 관리통제시스템의 이용경향 간의 관계를 검증함으로써 조직 외부의 이해관계자의 요구로 말미암아 조직 내부의 통제시스템 역시 영향을 받는지를 검증하는 것이다. 덧붙여 관리통제시스템의 이용이 미래 부채비용에 어떠한 영향을 줄 수 있는지에 대해 탐색적으로 살펴보고자 하였다. [연구방법]본 연구는 매출액 기준 국내 400대 상장 제조기업을 대상으로 실증연구를 수행하였으며, 실증분석에는 공시된 기업의 재무자료와 더불어 설문조사를 통해 1차 데이터를 수집하여 병용하였다. 가설검정은 PLS 구조방정식 모형을 이용하였다. [연구결과]가설검정 결과, 부채압력 하에서 관리통제시스템의 상호작용적 이용에 대한 의존이 높으며, 특히 성과측정시스템의 상호작용적 이용이 강조되는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 통제시스템의 진단적 이용은 t＋1기의 부채비용을 증가시키는 한편, 예산시스템의 상호작용적 이용은 t＋1기의 부채비용을 감소시키는 것으로 나타났다. [연구의 시사점]본 연구의 결과는 외부 이해관계자가 야기하는 불확실성에 초점을 맞추어 부채압력이 관리통제시스템의 이용에 영향을 미칠 수 있음을 설명하였다는데 의의가 있다. 또한 부채압력 하에서 관리통제시스템의 이용이 미래부채비용에 미치는 영향을 분석하여 연구의 외연을 확장하였다.
Abstract
[Purpose]This study aims to investigate the influence of external stakeholders’ pressure on internal control systems by examining the relationship between debt pressure and use of management control systems, and future debt expense. [Methodology]The target of this study is 400 listed Korean manufacturing firms sorted by sales. This study uses archival and survey data to test our predictions with applying PLS structural equation modelling analysis. [Findings]This study shows that debt pressure positively associates with interactive performance measurement systems. Also, diagnostic control systems increase future debt expense of t＋1 period, while interactive budget systems attenuate future debt expense of t＋1 period. [Implications]This study presents evidence for the influence of uncertainty caused by external stakeholders’ on management control systems, focusing on debt pressure.
