대화적 장르론과 구성적 문체론의 관점에서 본 바흐찐의 소설이론

The purpose of this thesis is to reconstruct M. Bakhtin’s novel theory from the perspective of dialogic genre theory and compositional style theory (композиционная стилистика). M. Bakhtin found the essence of the novel in the ‘dialogic orientation (диалогическая ориентация)’ of ‘discourse.’ Here, ‘dialogic orientation’ is embodied first, through dialogue with the language of others existing in the object indicated by the discourse, and second, through the dialogic nature of discourse formed in the interrelationship between speakers. M. Bakhtin saw a genre in which this possibility of discourse can be realized to the maximum extent as a novel. M. Bakhtin discovered a origin of the novel in a parody. Here, parody refers to the encountering, intersecting, colliding, mingling, and melding of heterogeneous linguistic elements. M. Bakhtin argued that the parody phenomena appeared in Western novel history was the case of the Hellenistic period, the late Middle Ages, the Renaissance period, the late 18th century, and the case of Dostoevsky. Novel as a dialogic genre is historically spread and profound by various styles created by parody of discourse. M. Bakhtin’s viewpoint must be a painful point on the limitations of existing literature studies. If our literary research still treats style as secondary, his viewpoint will still be an echo of awakening.
