플랫폼 노동자의 노동상황과 일자리 만족도에 관한 연구

This study aims to examine the labor conditions of platform workers and how they affect their subjective job satisfaction. We analyzed a survey result of 300 platform workers in different sectors. The main analysis results are as follows: First, lots of platform workers were not independent from the platforms despite their legal status as independent contractors. Second, the degree of dependence of platform workers varies considerably depending on the types of platform work. Generally, the location-based platform workers tend to be more dependent than web-based platform workers in particular, in the case of the transportation sector, which accounts for a quantitative majority in platform labor in Korea. Third, the job satisfaction level of platform workers also varies depending on the type of platform workers. The job satisfaction of the location-based platform workers is significantly lower than that of web-based platform workers. Fourth, what was common in any type of platform workers was that there were high concerns about the insecurity and low satisfaction with skill development opportunities. Therefore, policies are needed to ensure employment and income security and support skill development regardless of the legal status of platform workers and the legal responsibility of platform companies is needed to be imposed especially in the location-based platform sectors.
