코로나19 확산에 따른 언론의 일자리 주제 분석

This study identified employment news agenda and changes of issue priorities and sentiment in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic using text-mining techniques. As a result of LDA-based topic analysis on employment news, eight topics emerged:Customized Employment Service, Corporate Investment, Politics, Government-funded Program, Employment Situations, Labor- management Relations, Support for the Disadvantaged, Global Economy. Priorities of the eight topics had significantly fluctuated since the Covid-19 occurred in Korea in January 2020. While Customized Employment Service, Corporate Investment, and Employment Situations had decreased, Government- funded Program, Politics, Global Economy, and Support for the Disadvantaged had increased in the aggregate topic weight. Positivity in text sentiment had declined as positively-valenced topics of Customized Employment Service and Corporate Investment shrunk in the initial stage of the crisis. However, positive sentiment had grown after Government-funded Program had been prioritized in the news agenda. Various topics had risen in chronological order after the Covid-19 occurrence, from Politics to Government-funded Program and Support for the Disadvantaged to Employment Situations and Global Economy, and lastly to Corporate Investment and Labor-management Relations. Consistent with the previous research on news topics and trends, our analysis revealed that employment news set agenda based on government policy and sensitively reacted to internal and external factors. Notably, the employment agenda in the news showed flexible priorities in response to changing states of the Covid-19 spread and the progress of public policy discussions. Furthermore, our data collection with a keyword of ‘jobs(iljali)’ allowed a more extensive review of employment agenda than previous literature with a specific-policy focus.
