정부의 기술개발 관련 지원이 기업의 혁신활동에 미치는 영향: 성향점수매칭 방법의 적용

Innovation activities can be an engine of successive development as increasing competitiveness of the firms with limited resources, therefore innovation activities of domestic firms has been acknowledged as a necessary factor in rapidly changeable business environment. However, many firms would strengthen innovation activities by government support because of limited resources and information asymmetry. To investigate the effects of both tax support and non-tax support as the indirect method of government on the innovation activities of firms, this study used the 2014 innovation activity table from STEPI, and propensity score matching method was explored to overcome the problem of sample selection bias. In the empirical result for using all firms, tax reduction and funding support for commercialization have the significant impact on the difference between firms with funding and non-funding firms. In using only venture and innobiz firms, tax reduction, funding support for commercialization, and government technology support have the significant impact, while only funding support for commercialization has the significant impact when the firms not included in venture and innobiz firms were used. From the study results, government support for technology development has promoted the firms’ innovation activities. In other words, government support is, in general, effective to either venture or innobiz firm for its innovation activities. This dissimilar result is due to perception difference for importance of government support in accordance with the firm characteristic. That is, government support is needed to either venture or innobiz firm with limited finances.
