법률비서 초기 경력자의경력전환에 대한 연구

초록
안정적인 근무환경과 조직의 근로기준법 준수 등 법률비서의 장점이 알려지면서 법률비서로취업하고자 하는 구직자는 증가하고 있는 반면, 입사 초기 이직이나 경력전환을 위해 법률비서직을 그만두는 현상 또한 증가하고 있다. 초기 경력자의 경력전환에 대한 원인과 이에 대한연구가 활발함에도 아직 초기 법률비서의 경력전환에 대한 연구는 전무한 상황이다. 따라서본 연구는 법률비서 초기 경력자의 경력전환의 동기 및 과정과 그 경험이 주는 의미를 탐색하고자 한다. 이를 위해 서울 소재 대형 법률회사에서 법률비서로 5년 이내 근무 후 경력전환을경험한 8명을 대상으로 인터뷰를 진행하였으며, 현상학적 연구방법을 수행하였다. 수집된 자료는 총 4개의 범주와 10개의 주제묶음으로 도출되었다. 연구결과, 첫째, 연구 참여자들은 업무상의 한계와 직장 내 관계 및 구조적 어려움, 개인적요인의 동기에 따라 경력전환을 선택했다. 둘째, 경력전환의 과정에서 현재 경력의 선택 과정은 법률비서를 발판으로 준비된 기회를 잡거나, 법률비서와 다른 분야로 새로운 경력에 도전하기도 했다. 이 과정에서 법률비서의 경험은 연구참여자들의 경력개발에 다양한 역량을 키울수 있었음을 확인했다. 셋째, 법률비서 초기 경력자가 경험한 경력전환 경험의 의미와 일의 의미를 밝힘으로써 경력개발 관점에서의 경력전환에 대해 논의하였다. 이 연구결과는 법률비서직 종사자들의 경력전환 경험 중심으로 경력개발에 대한 기초자료를 제공할 수 있다.
Abstract
Job seekers seeking employment as legal secretaries is increasing due to its stableenvironment and organization's compliance with the Labor Standards Act. However, increasingnumber of legal secretaries leave to change jobs during their beginning careers. Despite theactive research on early career transitions, research on career transition of legal secretaries isnonexistent. Therefore, this study explored the motivation and process of career transition oflegal secretaries in their early careers and unveiled the meaning of their experiences. In-depthinterviews were conducted with eight former legal secretaries who experienced career transitionwithin five years after working at a large law firm in Seoul. Phenomenological research methodwas employed, and a total of four categories and ten cluster of themes were found. First, participants made career transitions owing to work limitations, relationship andstructural difficulties, and personal factors. During transition, legal secretary career was used asa stepping stone to current careers, or were challenged to initiate a new career. Legalsecretaries confirmed that they developed various competencies via such work experience. Lastly, career transition was discussed in the career development perspective by discovering themeaning of work and career transition experience of legal secretaries. This study can providefundamental data for career development on career transition experiences of legal secretaries
