개방형 혁신과 조직의 혁신역량이 성과에 미치는 영향

본 연구는 중소기업을 대상으로 개방형 혁신과 조직 혁신역량이 이들의 성과에 미치는 영향을 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 한다. ‘2016년 한국기업혁신조사’ 자료를 바탕으로 전체 1,011개의 중소기업에 대해 분석을 진행하였으며, 중소기업의 성과를 경영 성과와 혁신성과 두 가지 측면에서 살펴보았다. 분석결과, 기술 구매와 연구계약으로 대표되는 개방형 혁신과 연구개발전담인력, 혁신성과에 대한 보호인식으로 대표되는 조직의 혁신역량은 혁신 성과에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 반면, 경영성과에 대해서는 유의미한 영향을 미치지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 이에 더해 기업의 규모와 성과에 따라 개방형 혁신의 다양한 측면이 서로 차별적인 효과를 나타내는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 이상의 결과를 통해 개방형 혁신의 과정에 있어 조직이 보유한 혁신역량에 관한 고려가 동시에 진행되어야 하며, 조직의 혁신역량은 혁신활동을 통해 개발된 기술과 제품의 상업화가 전제될 때 긍정적인 경영 성과를 기대할 수 있음을 알 수 있다.
Abstract
This study explores the impacts of open innovation and innovation capacity on the management performance of SMEs. We defined the performance of SMEs in terms of their economic and innovation performances, and analyzed 1,011 SMEs using ‘2016 Korea Enterprise Innovation Survey.’ The result shows that open innovation as represented by technology purchase and research contract and the innovation capacity of SMEs, represented by open innovation and R&D personnel and protection awareness of innovation performance, has a positive effect on innovation performance, while having a no significant impact on economic performance. In addition, various aspects of open innovation have different effects on SMEs performance depending on their size and economic values. This findings imply that we have to give a consideration to the SMEs’ innovation capacity in the process of open innovation, and the SMEs’ innovation capacity is expected to be positive when commercialization of technologies and products developed through innovation activities is premised.
