국내 디자인 연구의 영향력에 대한 융합적 분석 – 인용 패턴을 중심으로 -

The importance of ‘Design’ is getting increased not only in industry but also in academia, but the existing studies to analyzing the bibliometric trend of Korean research in ‘Design’ only lies in a few specific research topics. Even, some related studies about the overall research trend are too old or have too small sample to properly reflect the current trends of the Korean ‘Design’ research. In order to cope up with the scholarly dearth, this study aims to analyze research impact (i.e. citation counts) of Korean ‘Design’ research, especially laid the focus on citing articles which took advantage of Korean ‘Design’ research as references. To accomplish the research purpose to analyze the overall research of the Korean ‘Design’, this study select 10,786 target articles published in 13 journals from 2003 to 2014. Especially, the 13 journals have accredited by the Korean Citation Index and have been qualified from the research impact perspective. To derive diverse patterns of citations, this study applied various bibliometric analysis methods to more than 10,000 target articles and about 19,000 citing articles. As a result of the analysis, more than 50% of the Korea ‘Design’ studies were used as references in other academic fields, not "design" field. That means Korean ‘Design’ studies had widely influenced various academic fields, with more than 1,000 journals in other academic fields. The main subjects of the "design" research, which were also highly cited and influencing, include "public design," "universal design," "brand identity," "design education," "user experience," and "service design." The main contribution of this study is that it is one of the rare attempts to examine meaningful citation patterns and major research themes and to explain overall research impact of the Korean ‘Design’ research in a large scale.
