지적 재산권 구매가 베트남 기업 혁신에 미치는 영향

본 연구는 동남아 신흥시장의 대표적 국가인 베트남에서 활동하는 기업을 대상으로 개방형 혁신(open innovation)이 기업의 혁신 성과에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 구체적으로, 외부에서 특허권을 구매하는 것이 제품혁신, 신제품 출시, 혁신제품의 매출 기여도, 공정 혁신, 물류 및 유통 혁신 및 지원업무 혁신에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 세계은행(World Bank)의 기업설문 데이터베이스로부터 996개의 베트남 기업을 표본으로 추출하여 실증 분석하였다. 그 결과, 외부에서 특허권을 구매하는 것이 기업의 혁신 성과에 긍정적인 영향을 주었다. 구체적으로 특허권 구매는 혁신과 관련된 모든 변수(제품혁신과 신제품 출시, 혁신제품의 매출 기여도, 공정 혁신, 물류 및 유통혁신 및 지원업무 혁신)와 유의한 양의 관계로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 기업이 외부에서 특허권을 구매하는 것이 기업혁신에 긍정적인 영향을 끼칠 수 있음을 보여준다. 이러한 결과는 실무적으론 기업의 자체적인 노력에 의한 혁신이 아니더라도 외부에서 개발한 특허권을 활용해 혁신할 수 있음을 시사한다. 아울러 본 연구는 동남아 신흥지역 기업의 개방형 혁신의 유효성을 실증분석함으로써 신흥지역의 기업 혁신에 관한 연구에 기여하였다.
Abstract
This study aims to investigate the effect of open innovation on product and process innovation in Vietnam. In particular, this research tests the effectiveness of purchasing intellectual properties (patent, license, etc.) for product or service and process innovations. To this end, we collect a sample of 996 firms in Vietnam from the World Bank Enterprise Survey database of 2015. Results show that purchasing intellectual properties has positive effects on product or service development, introduction of new product/service to markets, ratio of sales from innovated product or service to total sales, process innovation, logistic innovation, and innovation of supporting activities of firms in Vietnam. The findings from this study suggest that purchasing intellectual properties are likely to contribute to firm innovation in Vietnam.
