중소기업 내 스마트기술의 경영성과 효과
Firm Performance Effects of Smart Technology in SMEs

이 연구는 『사업체패널조사』 2019년 자료를 이용해서 우리나라 중소 제조기업에서 스마트기술이 기업의 경영성과에 어떤 영향을 미치는지, 그리고 스마트기술을 통해 경영성과를 높이기 위한 요건들이 무엇인지에 관해서 실증 분석을 시도하였다. 본 연구는 이론적 추론을 통해서 스마트기술의 경영성과 효과를 조절하는 요소들에 관해서 다음과 같은 가설들을 설정하였다. (1) 상황적 요인들로서 공정의 표준화와 대량생산방식이 스마트공장의 경영성과 효과를 긍정적으로 조절하고, 원청기업의 수는 부정적인 조절효과를 보일 것이다, (2) 주체적 요인들로서 엔지니어 수와 고숙련 생산기능직 근로자의 비율이 스마트공장의 경영성과 효과를 긍정적으로 조절하고, 인력부족률은 부정적인 조절효과를 보일 것이다, (3) 일터혁신 요소로서 근로자 참여 기반 혁신활동, 교육훈련시간, 성과급 등이 스마트공장의 경영성과 효과를 긍정적으로 조절할 것이다. 본 연구에서 사용한 회귀모형은 Cobb-Douglass 생산함수에 기초해서 도출되었다. 회귀모형의 종속변수는 1인당 부가가치이고, OLS로 추정하였다. 분석 결과는 스마트공장은 경영성과에 긍정적인 영향을 미치고 있음을 입증하지 못하고 있다. 그와 동시에 본 연구의 분석 결과는 공정표준화(+), 대량생산방식(+), 원청기업의 수(-), 고근속 생산기능직 근로자 비율(+), 교육훈련시간(+) 등이 스마트공장의 경영성과 효과에 통계적으로 유의한 조절효과를 보이고 있으며, 근로자 참여 기반 혁신활동도 스마트공장의 경영성과 효과에 약하게나마 통계적으로 유의한 양(+)의 영향을 미치고 있음을 시사하고 있다. 마지막으로 본 연구는 실증분석 결과들을 요약정리하고 정책적 시사점을 논의하였다.
Abstract
Utilizing Workplace Panel Survey 2019, we conduct empirical analyses on whether smart technology has a positive effect on firm performance in SMEs, and on which factors moderate its firm performance effects. Based on theoretical conjectures, we set the following hypotheses on some moderators for firm performance effects of smart technology. (1) Process standardization and mass production will have a positive moderating effect respectively, and the number of prime contractors will have a negative moderating effect. (2) The number of engineers and the proportion of skilled production workers will have a positive moderating effect respectively, and labor shortage rate will have a negative moderating effect. (3) Employee-involved innovation practice, training hours, and performance-based pay will have a positive moderating effect respectively. We draw our regression models from the Cobb-Douglass production function. We estimate OLS models whose dependent variable is value added per capita. The results of this study indicate that smart technology does not affect positively value added per capita. The results of estimating moderating effects indicate that process standardization(+), mass production(+), the number of prime contractors(-), the proportion of skilled production workers(+) and training hours(+) have statistically positive moderating effects on the firm performance of smart technology as expected by this study. The results also indicate that employee-involved innovation practice has a weakly positive moderating effect on the firm performance of smart technology. Finally the results are summarized, and their implications are discussed.
