Development of Elderly-Friendly Exercise Equipment Using Capstone Design in Aging Society : Patent application(2020-0023049)

The purpose of this study is to develop elderly-friendly exercise equipment using capstone design education in an aging society. To this end, students, professors, and industry together applied PBL (Problem Based Learning) in the form of team teaching to nurture customized industrial talents and to realize learner-centered education. The capstone design education is designed for learners to experience a series of processes of developing sports company products, to solve problems on their own, and to improve self-directed learning skills. As part of the 'Industry-University Cooperation Leading University Fostering Project (LINC+)', this study was conducted in a way that 15 sessions of 'Sports Capstone Design' classes were conducted for second-year students of C University in G Metropolitan City. The results developed through the problem-solving process in this study improved the functions and characteristics as follows. First, by using the lightest material, the use of multi-sided rather than single-sided and storage space were secured to expand portability and spatiality compared to the existing acupressure plate. Second, the functionality of the acupressure plate was improved by adding the function of attaching and detaching the elastic band to the body and adding the function of acupressure on the soles of the feet. Third, the conventional acupressure plate, which did not have an angle adjustment function, can be adjusted to a certain angle, thereby increasing the utility of the acupressure plate so that acupressure treatment and upper body exercise can be performed at the same time even in a seated state.
