대학의 위기와 학술생태계 : 대학과 연구(자)의 상생을 위하여

This study focuses on the employment and life of researchers who work at universities and produce sciences, unlike current discussions that see the crisis of local universities due to the recent decline in population as a crisis of the universities. The university crisis will cause the employment crisis of researchers in the future, which will eventually lead to the crisis of the academic production system. Researchers are the ones who make the academic production system. Researchers need a research safety net that makes research sustainable, which is essential for the sustainability of Korean academic production systems, not just for the treatment of researchers. According to this standpoint, this study aims to suggest future changes in university structure and ways to maintain academic production system. It shows that the pursuit of the current university system is distorted by the idea of ​​elite-oriented excellence. In order to pursue proper academic excellence, it is necessary to differentiate research-oriented universities and education-oriented universities by referring to various forms of American universities and to reform the current polarization of professor employment structure. In addition, as a preemptive plan to preserve academic production systems outside the university in case the change in university structure further worsens professor employment situations, it was proposed to establish ‘the National Doctorate’ and ‘Basic Humanities and Social Science Institute’ for the academic successors, and ‘the National Honorary Professor’ and ‘the Korean version of College de France’ for senior researchers.
