4년제 대학 시각디자인 전공자의 정보문해력 향상을 위한 정보디자인 교육모델 연구

The purpose of this study is to suggest an educational model for information design to enhance the information literacy, through resetting the purpose, direction, and content of an information design curriculum for the college students of visual communication design major. However this study is not focusing on persuading the information design class to be included in the visual communication design curriculum, but effectively teaching Information Design Literacy, which is more expanded, subdivided, and advanced from Visual Literacy. In order to establish the model, first of all, I conducted preceding research analysis about Visual, Media, Digital, Data Visualization, and Information Literacy related to information design education and explained how each main concept of the literacies is connected with the necessity of information design education model. The second, I reorganized the communication system developed by Thomas Ockerse as the basic structure of the education model based on the core contents of information literacy, and the teaching methods and results of information design classes that I have taught from 2003 to 2021. Consequently, I designed the model that has an effect on the visual design education as a new information design system to study the literacy for new paradigm shift although it basically consists of the visual design knowledge such as visual grammar and graphic design expression skills constructed in visual communication design field. As a result, this study suggests a concrete system and four detailed courses for information design education. In addition, the model is to share the idea, to apply to practical studies, and to make many cases. From the update tasks the expected effects of this study is that the visual communication design can help new illiterate people who can read texts but can’t interpret visual information to communicate better.
