초록
Since 2010, crowdfunding has been actively used in French museums. This study examined the context and current situation of crowdfunding in French museums. Also, the case of crowdfunding in the Louvre Museum was analyzed. In addition, the meaning and value of crowdfunding were explored. The characteristics of crowdfunding in French public museums are as follows. First, crowdfunding shows the possibility of diversifying the museums’ financial resources and securing sustainable financial resources through digital innovation. Second, crowdfunding allows the public to participate in the most basic and essential museum activity, a collection purchase and restoration project. This participation experience opens the way for them to grow as loyal supporters who sympathize with the mission and activities of the museums and have a constant interest in the museums. Third, crowdfunding establishes a new collaboration method that connects the museums and the public by strengthening direct communication between them through online platform and SNS. Finally, crowdfunding can contribute to socially spreading the value of museums by expanding public interest and participation in the museums.
