중국의 최저임금 현황과 제도의 취약성

The minimum wage system refers to a system in which low-wage workers maintain stability in their lives by allowing the state to set the minimum wage level for workers and pay employers more wages. The minimum wage system is enforced by the state to pay employers wages above the minimum level, and aims to develop the national economy in a sound manner. On the one hand, the minimum wage system avoids competition methods based on low wages and pursues the effect of contributing to improving income distribution. The Chinese government officially enacted the Minimum Wage Regulations in 2004 and began expanding the target and scope of the minimum wage. Since the [Minimum Wage Regulations] came into force in 2004, related regulations have been enacted in 24 regions across the country, and the minimum wage has been raised by 20% annually. In particular, during the 2008 global financial crisis, efforts were made to alleviate the income imbalance problem of low-income families by adding minimum wage items to the Labor Law. Since the minimum wage system is a minimum national policy for workers to maintain a minimum life, it is also important to discuss whether it is appropriate and point out the problems. Against this background, this paper attempts to analyze the background and current status of the introduction of the minimum wage system in China, and the problems of the current minimum wage system.
