Purpose: This study aims to investigate the trends of suicidal ideation, plans and attempts among adolescents using the data by gender from the 16th Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey(2011-2020). Methods: 29,879,885 students were analyzed using the STATA 17.0(StataCorp, College Station, Texas) program. We analyzed the trends of suicidal ideation, plan, and attempt by the year. Furthermore, we analyzed the relationship between suicidal ideation, plan, and attempt of general characteristics, health risk behaviors, and emotional characteristics using logistic regression analysis. Results: From 2011 to 2020 by gender, (the frequency of) suicidal ideation, plan, and attempt decreased overall. According to logistic regression analysis, suicidal ideation, plan and attempt were associated with gender, school grade, academic performance, economic status, residence type, eating breakfast, physical activity, drinking, smoking, sexual intercourse, stress, sleep insufficiency, sadness and desperation. Conclusions: The influence of multiple factors on suicidal thoughts, plans, and attempts implies that suicide-related behaviors result from complex, dynamic, and unique interactions among numerous contributing factors. Therefore, suicide prevention education for adolescents should take precedence, and suicide prevention education should consider all gender, demographic, health behavior, and mental health characteristics rather than unilateral education. It should be implemented so that.
