수출전문인력 보유도가 중소기업의 수출성과에 미치는 영향 : 네트워크 중심성과 수출시장다변화의 조절효과를 중심으로
The Effect of Retention of Export Professionals on Export Performance of SMEs : Focusing on Moderating Effects of Network Centrality and Export Market Diversification

본 연구는 수출전문인력 보유도가 중소기업의 수출성과에 미치는 영향을 네트워크중심성과 수출시장다변화의 조절효과를 중심으로 실증분석하였다. 전남지역에 위치한 수출중소기업 150개사를 대상으로 실증분석을 수행한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 수출전문인력 보유도는 중소기업의 수출성과에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 자원기반관점의 선행연구들이 강조하는 바와 같이중소기업이 보유한 수출전문인력은 해외시장에 대한 경험과 노하우를 지닌 경쟁우위의 원천으로써 수출성과에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 수 있다는 점을 시사한다. 둘째, 네트워크 중심성의 조절효과를 검증한 결과 네트워크 중심성은 수출전문인력보유도가 수출성과에 미치는 긍정적인 영향을 강화하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한결과는 중소기업이 협력 네트워크 내 중심적인 위치에 있을수록 해외시장에서 필요로 되는 다양한 지식에 대한 접근이 용이해지기 때문에 네트워크 중심성은 수출전문인력 보유도가 수출성과에 미치는 긍정적인 영향을 더욱 강화시키는 조절역할을 수행하는 것으로 판단된다. 마지막으로 수출시장다변화의 조절효과를 검증한결과 수출시장다변화는 수출전문인력 보유도가 수출성과에 미치는 긍정적인 영향을 약화시키는 것으로 나타났다. 수출전문인력이 처리할 수 있는 정보량과 담당할수 있는 업무의 양은 제한적이기 때문에, 중소기업이 진출한 해외시장의 수가 많아질수록 수출전문인력이 담당해야 하는 업무량은 증대될 수밖에 없다. 따라서 본연구의 결과는 수출시장다변화가 중소기업의 수출전문인력 보유도 및 수출성과 간긍정적인 관계를 약화시키는 요인이 될 수 있다는 점을 시사한다. 본 연구에서는자원기반관점하에서 수출전문인력이 수출성과의 중요한 선행요인임을 규명했다는점, 네트워크 이론을 바탕으로 네트워크 중심성의 조절효과를 규명했다는 점, 정보처리이론의 관점에서 수출시장다변화의 조절효과를 살펴보았다는 점에서 유용한이론적, 실무적 시사점을 제시할 수 있을 것이다.
Abstract
This study empirically analyzed the effect of retention of export professionals on export performance of SMEs, focusing on the moderating effects of network centrality and export market diversification. The results of the empirical analysis on 150 export SMEs located in Jeollanam-do are as follows. First, it was found that the retention of export professionals had a positive effect on the SMEs' export performance. These results suggest that export professionals owned by SMEs can have a positive effect on export performance as a source of competitive advantage with experience and know-how in overseas markets, as emphasized by previous studies from a resource-based perspective. Second, as a result of verifying the moderating effect of network centrality, it was found that network centrality strengthens the positive effect of retention of export professionals on export performance. SMEs in a central position within the inter-firm network can access various knowledge required in overseas markets. Therefore, network centrality is judged to play a moderating role in further strengthening the positive impact of retention of export professionals on export performance. Finally, as a result of verifying the moderating effect of export market diversification, it was found that export market diversification weakened the positive effect of retention of export professionals on export performance. Since the amount of information export professionals can handle and the amount of work they can handle are limited, the more overseas markets SMEs have entered, the greater the workload for export professionals. Therefore, the results of this study suggest that export market diversification can weaken the positive effect of retention of export professionals on SMEs’ export performance. This study can present useful theoretical and practical implications in that it identified export professionals as important antecedents of export performance from a resource-based perspective, identified the moderating effect of network centrality based on network theory, and examined the moderating effect of export market diversification based on information processing theory.
