스위스 개정 예금보호제도에 대한 고찰

The global financial crisis that occurred in 2008 once again reminded the importance of the deposit protection system in the financial market. The financial crisis exposed the problems of the Swiss deposit protection system. As a result, the Swiss Federal Senate reformed the deposit protection system to improve the problems and restore public trust. The deposit protection system refers to a system in which the Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation pays part or all of the funds to the customer when the financial company is unable to pay the customer's funds due to business suspension or bankruptcy. In Korea, such a deposit insurance system is guaranteed under the “Depositor Protection Act”. In addition, it is evaluated that the Depositor Protection Act played an important role in maintaining the stability of the Korean financial market during the global financial crisis that occurred in 2008. However, recent domestic public opinion and proposals such as the “Partial Amendment to the Depositor Protection Act” insist on an effective revision of the depositor protection system due to the expansion of the economy and changes in the financial environment. Accordingly, this paper intends to present the legislative measures necessary to protect Korean depositors and maintain the stability of the financial market while discussing the recently revised Swiss BankG.
