코로나19와 돌봄노동 - 제주지역 복지현장을 중심으로 -

Since COVID-19, Korean society has experienced various changes in politics, economy, and society as a whole. After several pandemic periods since the beginning of 2020, the government is currently attempting to switch to the so-called With COVID-19, as shown in the government’s policy stance. Is it easy to return to the pre-COVID-19 situation? It has also been argued that even if the pandemic situation ends, the crisis caused by COVID-19 will continue for the time being. In particular, poverty and inequality intensified by COVID-19 were more concentrated on the vulnerable, and psychological and emotional problems regardless of class, such as COVID-19 Blue, were expressed. In this situation, the importance of care work is revealed to the surface, and care work is being discussed as a discourse on essential work. In particular, the contents of their protection and support are dealt with at the legal and institutional level. Then, what changes did Korean social care work experience during the period with COVID-19? How specific are the protection and support measures for them as essential workers? Starting with the concept and characteristics of care work, this article deals with major issues and institutional changes in Korean society related to care work after COVID-19. Next, the analysis results of the survey on the COVID-19 experience of care workers were presented. To this end, the results of the completed questionnaire and interview survey conducted on care workers at welfare field in Jeju were reflected. Finally, this study attempted to reveal through the results of the survey what implications and countermeasures the current Korean social care work problem requires.
