대안학교에서 디자인 씽킹 교육 적용을 통한 디자인교육의 필요성 탐색

When analyzing the education curriculum of Alternative Schools in the Gyeonggi-do area, it was discovered that Alternative Education in the art field was not very different from the education curriculum of general academic schools, and learner-centric education was not being conducted properly. In these educational environments, Design Education is an education method that can lead to the improvement of creative thinking skills, and it is expected to solve many of the problems of the current Alternative Education system. This study was conducted to observe and analyze the effects of Design Education on students in Alternative Schools and explore its necessity. In addition, it is a Design Education experiment conducted on Alternative School students. For two years, 94 high school students at Central Yedam Christian Academy, an Alternative School located in Gyeonggi-do, were provided with Design Education. At the end of their second semester, a project where they could apply the Design Thinking Process to solve problems at their school was conducted. Then, the data was collected after the project through surveys and in-depth interviews and analyzed. The results of the study were as follows. First, Alternative Education in the art field, different from general academic schools, is necessary. Second, Design Education improves students’ self-directed learning capabilities and can teach them creative Design Thinking Processes. Third, students hope for Alternative Education focused on various experiences and activities, and Design Education is suited for such Alternative Education. Lastly, it was confirmed that students’ satisfaction with the classes were higher as Design Education provided them with aspects that can not be taught in general academic schools due to organizational reasons. Therefore, Design Education will prove to be the Alternative Education method that solves the problem that current Alternative Schools lack differentiation from regular public education.
