Qualitative Analysis of the Leadership Competencies of Regional Base University for the Establishment of a Lifelong Education Support System for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities: Based on Daegu University’s Vision Case

The purpose of this study was to analyze the leadership competency of regional university in the position of a base in order to settle the lifelong education of individuals with developmental disabilities. The research method consisted of the procedure of FGI through a semi-structured questionnaire. As a result of the FGI analysis, Daegu University's leadership competencies derived in relation to the settlement of lifelong education for individuals with developmental disabilities was largely found in four categories. First, the leadership competency of the academic foundation was presented along with subcategories such as establishing the concept of the curriculum and related services, and actual establishment of career design based on education-welfare linkage. In addition, the second leadership competency was found to be the ability to lead the linkage between curriculum-based regional related organizations, and the linkage between individual customized learning careers-based local related organizations for individuals with developmental disabilities. The third leadership competency was found to be the leading competency in subject matter education and teaching and learning case guidelines, and subcategories such as support for composition guidelines for subject matter education guidelines and manualization of self-directed learning types centered on adulthood were presented. The fourth leadership competency was found to be a diversification-led competency of the type of qualification level, and subcategories such as development and demand for customized qualification for developmental disabilities and functionalization as a qualification training designated institution were presented. Through the research results, it could be analyzed that the leadership of university foundation is important to establish a lifelong education support system for individuals with developmental disabilities.
