The Effect of Firm-specific Skills on Product Innovation: Analysis of Moderating Effect of Organizational Innovation Types

본 연구의 목적은 기업특수적 숙련 특성 및 조직혁신이 제품혁신에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고 기업특수적 숙련 특성과 제품혁신 간 관계에서 유형별 조직혁신의 조절 효과를 분석하는 것이다. 인적자본기업패널(HCCP) 2009～2017년 자료를 활용하여 패널회귀분석을 한 결과, 기업특수적 숙련 특성은 제품혁신에 부정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 업무수행방식의 변화, 지식관리방식의 변화, 외부 조직과의 관계 변화와 같은 조직혁신 활동은 제품혁신에 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 네 가지 조직혁신 활동 중에서 지식관리방식의 변화는 기업특수적 숙련 특성과 제품혁신 간 관계에서 조절변수로서 작용하였다. 이는 기업특수적 숙련을 가진 기업은 지식관리방식의 변화를 통해 제품혁신에 미치는 부정적 영향을 감소시킬 수 있음을 보여준다. 따라서 혁신을 위해서는 기업특수적 숙련보다는 일반 숙련(general skills)에 대한 교육훈련 투자를 늘리고 정보와 지식 공유 및 학습 방식과 관련된 조직혁신 방법에 관심을 가질 필요가 있다.
Abstract
This study identified the effect of firm-specific skill characteristics and organizational innovation on product innovation, and analyzed the moderating effect of organizational innovation types on the relationship between firm-specific skill characteristics and product innovation. As a result of panel regression analysis using data from the Human Capital Corporate Panel (HCCP, 2009-2017), it was found that firm-specific skills had a negative impact on product innovation, and organizational innovation activities that introduced the changes in the way work is done, in the knowledge management method, and in relationship with external organizations were found to have a positive effect on product innovation. Also, Changes in knowledge management method affected the relationship between firm-specific skill characteristics and product innovation. Companies with firm-specific skills can reduce the negative impact on product innovation by changing the knowledge management method. Therefore, it is necessary to increase investment in education and training for general skills, and to pay attention to organizational innovation methods related to sharing learning the knowledge
