코로나19 발생 이후 장애인가족 삶의 변화 연구

초록
본 연구는 코로나19 이후 장애인 가족의 삶에 어떤 변화가 있는지 살펴보기 위해 장애인 당사자 및 주양육자 10명의 경험을 심층인터뷰(in-depth interview)하였다. 수집된 자료를 통해 분석된 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 도출하였다. 첫째, 연구 참여자들은 코로나19로 인한 심리적 부담으로 인해 장애 자녀‘죽음’에 대한 인식이 과거 머나먼 죽음에서 눈앞의 죽음으로의 전환을 가져왔다. 둘째, 주양육자인 연구 참여자들은 지금까지 와는 차원이 다른 힘든 상황, 즉 가족구성원의 모든 어려움을 오롯이 감당해야만 했다. 셋째, 코로나19 이후로 참여자들은 가족의 특성상 돌고 도는 힘듦이 있지만 ‘가족’의 힘으로 극복할 통로를 찾고 있었다. 넷째, 코로나19로 인해 기존의 거의 모든 프로그램과 서비스가 중단되었지만 이제는 탈출구가 필요한 시점으로 여기고 있었다. 즉, 이제는 더 이상 버티기 어려운 상황에 직면해 있었다. 마지막으로 참여자들은 사회적 관계의 단절을 경험하고 이를 극복하기 위해 비대면 의사소통을 하지만 여전히 채워지지 않는 공허함을 안고 있었다. 이와 같이 코로나19 이후로 장애인 당사자와 그 가족들은 개인과 가족 그리고 사회적 관계에서 기존과는 차원이 다른 어려움에 직면해 있지만 그 자리에 머물지 않고 새로운 극복과 해결의 통로를 찾고 있었다. 이를 지원하기 위한 효율적이고 효과적인 사회서비스 지원이 필요하다.
Abstract
This study conducted in-depth interviews of 10 people with disabilities and main caregivers to examine what changes in the families with disabilities since COVID-19. As a result of analysis through the collected data, the conclusions as follows. First, the parent's perception of the "death" of children with disabilities due to COVID-19 has changed from a distant death to an immediate death. Second, the participants, who are the main caregivers, had to deal with a difficult situation that was different from the past, that is, all the difficulties of family members. Third, since COVID-19, participants have been looking for a way to overcome with the power of "family," although there are difficulties going around due to the nature of the family. Fourth, almost all existing programs and services stopped due to COVID-19, but now it is time to restart. In other words, it was now facing a situation that was difficult to endure. Finally, the participants experienced a break in social relationships and communicated non-face-to-face to overcome social isolation, but still had a void. As such, since COVID-19, people with disabilities and their families have faced difficulties in individual, family, and social relations, but they have not stayed there and have been looking for new ways to overcome and solve them.
