고등학교 ‘정치와 법’ 교과서의 미디어 리터러시 관련 내용 분석

미디어 리터러시는 현대 민주주의 및 법치주의 사회의 시민이 갖추어야 할 중요한 자질 중 하나이다. 이에 이 연구는 시민성 함양을 목표로 하는 고등학교 ‘정치와 법’ 교과서가 미디어 리터러시에 관하여 어떻게 제시하고 있는지를 분석하고 고등학교 ‘정치와 법’ 교과서 구성의 개선방안을 제시하고자 하였다. 2015 개정 교육과정에 따른 고등학교 ‘정치와 법’ 검정 교과서 5종을 분석한 결과, 단원별로 제시된 미디어 리터러시 요소의 종류와 빈도에 차이가 있었고, 특정 미디어 리터러시 요소들이 편중되어 제시되었으며, 미디어 리터러시 내용이 ‘활동’ 형태로 많이 제시되었다. 이러한 분석 결과에 기반하여 향후 개선된 고등학교 ‘정치와 법’을 비롯한 정치와 법 영역 교과서 개발을 위해서는 첫째, 정치와 법 영역의 성격, 목표, 단원의 특징에 적절한 미디어 관련 쟁점이 개발되고, 둘째, 다양한 미디어 리터러시 요소들이 교과서에 제시되어야 한다. 셋째, 내용 제시 형태가 다양화·구체화되고, 넷째, 최신 뉴미디어와 디지털 리터러시 관련 내용이 보완되어야 하며, 다섯째, 교육과정의 내용이 수정·보완되어야 한다.
Abstract
This study aims to analyze elements of media literacy in the high school ‘Policy and Law’ textbooks and to suggest improvements regarding media literacy which is one of the important qualities that citizens should have. For this purpose, five textbooks of high school ‘Policy and Law’ were analyzed. The analysis results are as follows: first, the frequency and type of media literacy elements differed from unit to unit. Second, only some types of media literacy elements are presented. Third, there was a lot of ‘inquiry tasks'. Based on these results, the following discussions were presented for development of ‘Politics and Law' curriculum and textbooks: First, Media-related issues that reflect the goals and units of ‘Politics and Law' should be developed. Second, various elements of media literacy should be presented in textbooks. Third, the form of content presentation should be diversified and concrete. Fourth, the new media and digital literacy content should be supplemented. Fifth, the curriculum should be revised and supplemented.
