초록
이 연구는 지속 가능을 바탕으로, 제로웨이스트와 업사이클링 개념을 도입한 가방디자인을 구현함으로써 희소성과 상품성을 지닌 지속가능 디자인을 위한 가방을 제작하고 상품화의 가능성을 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 연구방법 및 내용은 제로웨이스트와 업사이클링 디자인의 개념을 시작으로, 관련 선행연구를 통해 제로웨이스트 디자인 구현 방법을 고찰하여 외형디자인에 적용하였다. 또한, 선행연구를 바탕으로 업사이클링의 유형을 분류하고, 관련 작품사례 분석을 기반으로 디테일을 위한 표현 방식의 재료로 ‘원단 폐기물’을 활용하였다. 나비를 모티브를 선정하여 재구성하고 드로잉한 후, 이를 수집해놓은 잉여 원단들로 구현하여 총 3점의 지속가능을 위한 가방디자인을 제작하였다. 그 결과, 제로웨이스트를 위한 외형적 디자인 구현 방법과 업사이클링 사례를 통한 디테일 표현 방식은 가방디자인전개 시, 각각의 디자인에 효율적으로 적용되며, 디자인을 위한 아이디어의 토대가 됨을 알 수 있었다. 사용된 잉여원단들은 불규칙적인 형태의 조각인 특성상 나비 날개의 표현 특성을 모티브로 재해석하고 디자인으로 구현하기에 최적화된 재료임을 확인할 수 있었다. 제로웨이스트 가방디자인을 구현하기 위한 디자인은 제로웨이스트를 위한 패턴 구성 과정과 밀접하게 연동되며 디자인과 패턴 구성은동시에 이루어지는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한, 직사각형의 가방디자인은 직선적 형태로써 제로웨이스트을 위한 패턴 구성을 위해서 적합한 것을 확인할 수 있었으며, 제로웨이스트 구현을 위한 디자인아이디어는 지속가능을 위한 가방디자인의 상품화로써 가능성이 있음을 알 수 있었다. 따라서, 본 연구는 화두되고 있는 환경문제와 그 필연성에 착안하여 지속가능한 디자인에 주목하였으며, 그 구현 방법인 제로웨이스트와 업사이클링을 접목한 가방디자인을 제작하였다. 지속가능한 디자인의 관심과 연구를 통해서 실용적이며 고부가가치를 지닌 상품들이 지속적으로 개발되길 바란다.
Abstract
Based on sustainability, this study aims to produce bags for sustainable design with scarcity and merchantability and to present the possibility of commercialization by implementing bag designs that introduce zero-waist and upcycling concepts. Starting with the concept of zero-waist and upcycling design, the research method and content were applied to external design by examining the method of implementing zero-waist design through related prior research. In addition, the types of upcycling were classified based on previous studies, and ‘fabric waste’ was used as a material for expression for detail based on the analysis of related work cases. Butterfly motifs were selected, reconstructed, and drawn, and then implemented with the collected surplus fabrics to produce a total of three bag designs for sustainability. As a result, it was found that the external design implementation method for zero-waist and the detailed expression method through upcycling cases are efficiently applied to each design when developing bag design and serve as the basis for the idea for design. Due to the characteristics of irregular sculptures, the surplus fabrics used were reinterpreted with the motif of the expression characteristics of the butterfly wings and confirmed to be optimized for implementation by design. It was confirmed that the design for implementing the zero-waist bag design is closely linked to the pattern construction process for the zero-waist, and the design and pattern construction are simultaneously performed. In addition, it was confirmed that the rectangular bag design was suitable for the pattern composition for zero-waist as a linear shape, and the design idea for zero-waist implementation was possible as a commercialization of bag design for sustainability. Therefore, this study paid attention to sustainable design based on the environmental problems and their inevitability, and produced a bag design that combines zero-waist and upcycling, which is an implementation method. I hope that practical and high-value-added products will be continuously developed through interest and research in sustainable design.
