Development of An Integrated Agricultural Platform for Philippines

초록

For the longest time, farmers have been trapped in the cycle of poverty due to a variety of factors such as a lack of required capital, high interest rates on loan, climate change and natural disasters, uninsured crops and livestock, high cost of farming inputs, limited access to a reliable market, accurate weather data, farming technologies and equipment. To address the aforementioned challenges, the researchers proposed and developed the use of a one-stop agricultural platform and named it “Promdi Farm.” The result showed that the platform will be very helpful to the farmers and other stakeholders based on the industry experts' validation and approval. The farmers on the other hand showed enthusiasm and interest to use this type of system. The platform was coded using python (backend) and flutter (frontend). It includes an e-commerce site, insurance chat function, weather forecasting, crowd funding, and direct link to government e-learning site. The system is available to all stakeholders in the agricultural value chain including but not limited to farm input sellers, producers or farmers, crowd funders, institutional buyers, retailers, and consumers. This addresses the major concerns of the farmers holistically rather than individually.
