Static Stiffness Estimation of Upper Control Arms for Multi-Material Structure using Response Surface Method

초록

The importance of reducing the weight of automobiles has increased as an alternative to environmental regulations and to improve the fuel efficiency. The control arm severely affects the riding comfort and wheel stability of automobiles. It is designed as a multi-material structure with core steel and engineering plastics, to reduce the weight of the control arm. The stiffness evaluated using the model equation of the response surface method was compared with the stiffness estimated via structural analysis with FEM. Minimal design points were obtained using the design of the experimental method. The design points were reviewed using the response surface method and a quadratic regression equation was calculated using the response surface model. The results obtained from the static structural analysis and response surface method agreed well (within 0.05 %).
