창의적 유능성과 사회적 책임감을 발휘하는 훌륭한 전문직업인의 개인적 특성에 관한 연구 : 2009년 ‘뉴욕 허드슨 강의 기적’ Chesely Sullenberger 기장의 사례를 중심으로

The purpose of this study is to explore the personal characteristics of great professionals with creative competencies and social responsibilities. To this end, based on the case of Captain Chesley Sullenberger, the protagonist of the miracle of the Hudson River in New York in 2009, as a representative example of excellent competence and correct value, his characteristics were examined and educationally meaningful content was extracted. The research question is about the personal characteristics of Captain Sully, education·training·experience, and the motivation and main contents of realization of the right values and professional expertise. For this purpose, Korean and English results obtained by searching for related articles with keywords on “Chesley Sullenberger” on national and international websites during August 2022, and a book published in 2009 were included in the analysis target. Through the process of organizing and processing the survey data, the final data was confirmed through qualitative content analysis such as coding several times. As a result of the study, a total of nine categories and 32 concepts were derived according to three themes: personal characteristics, education·training·experience, and realization of correct values and vocational expertise. While growing up, Captain Sully discovered an interest, passion, and professional aptitude for flying airplanes found a field that was right for him and focused on it. And he was able to perform the Miracle on the Hudson River as a result of pursuing and practicing continuous growth and dedication to his work. This study reveals that it is very important for individual growth and social contribution to find a professional field by considering individual interests, passions, and aptitudes and to help connect them to work.
