뮤지엄 아카이브의 참여형 디지털 플랫폼과 교육적 기능: 테이트의 ‘아카이브와 액세스 프로젝트(2013-2017)’ 사례를 중심으로

This study 1) focuses on the educational program of a new communication mode operated by the museum archive through a participatory digital platform for activation of the user-centered mutual exchanges and co-existence, and 2) examines how the two different concepts and roles of the museum education and the visual art archive could function more integrally in the digital environment. In the post-Covid19 age, the digital transformation has provided for a decisive momentum wherethrough the museums could explore an all-encompassing digital platform activation strategy. However, when the untact mode or ‘the online’ has become the only communication mode, the museums that could not afford to implement a phased mid- and long-term digitalization strategy would face quite different results from those obtained by their counterparts that have implemented such a strategy. Anyway, this study paid attention to the Tate that has pursued a phased digitalization for their operation and activities. Specifically, this study analyzed the contents and strategies of ‘Archives & Access Project (2013-2017)’ implemented by Tate Archive and thereupon, inferred some suggestions for the effective uses of the participatory archive platform. On the other hand, as the pandemic has swept us away, the value of the digital contents of the museum as the public properties has been highlighted. The public nature of the art knowledge and record heritage possessed by the museums as culture and arts institutions does not simply means sharing and participation but connotes their historical mission and communication with the society. Accordingly, the researcher attempted to cross the education of the museums with their archives conceptually and historically. In particular, the study reviewed the post-modern paradigm or the urgency of an open archive, focusing on the participatory education and authority of the museum communicating positively with the people and emphasized an effective fusion of such two currents on the participatory digital platform.
