청년의 불안정노동 경험과 우회적 이행기에 관한 연구

The process of youth entering the labor market, which determine the transition to ‘adulthood’, are very unstable. However, the increasing number of precarious labor youth are only highlighted as a “problematic phenomenon”, and specifically, research on ‘why’ they have become precarious workers and ‘how’ they are coping with the difficulties is relatively poor. Therefore, this study conducted in-depth interviews with 10 precarious young workers to explore various contextual factors affecting the transition period of precarious labor youth, based on a lifelong process approach. The results of the study are as follows. First, the youth in precarious labor was positioning themselves in a socially vulnerable position, projecting the experience of precarious labor on their sense of social position. Second, precarious labor youth tried to re-signify their labor experience and explore their future in a different direction from the normative transition period. Third, as a normative level goal, ‘buying their own home’ was assumed as the completion point of transition to adulthood. To this end, it was intended to secure income in a ‘highly probable’ manner while utilizing the flexibility of the labor market. This strategy was a ‘detouring’ strategy formed in a compromise between social normality and the flexibility required by the neoliberal theme. Fourth, however, in the process of implementing this, precarious labor youth were embodying depoliticization by having them solve structural problems at the personal level through ’compromising’ methods.
