패션 디자인에 나타난 메타모포시스에 관한 연구

초록
현대 패션은 메타모포시스를 통해 인체를 새로운 시각으로 표현하고 있다. 즉, 인체를 재현하는 의상이 아닌 비정형의 새로운 형태가 표현되고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 패션 디자인에 나타난 메타모포시스의 유형과 특성을 정립하여 작품의 스토리를 전달하는 방법으로 사용되는 하나의 디자인 방법을 제시하는 데 있다. 연구의 대상은 패션 디자인에 표현된 메타모포시스 사례이다. 연구 방법은 예술에서문헌연구와 사례연구를 병행하였으며, 패션에서는 메타모포시스가 표현된 가레스 퓨, 릭오웬스, 모스키노, 메종 마르지엘라, 메종 스키아파렐리, 빅터앤롤프, 아가타 루이즈 드 라 프라다, 알렉산더 맥퀸, 이세이 미야케, 꼼 데 가르송, 톰 브라운, 프랭크 소비에, 후세인 샬라얀의 2000년부터 현재까지의 컬렉션을 분석하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 메타모포시스는 ‘변신’, ‘형태 변형’을 의미하며, 문학에서 익살스러운 이야기로 인물·사회에 대한 풍자가 표현되었다. 미술에서는 사실적 재현이 아닌 대상으로부터의 해체가 나타났다. 둘째, 패션에서는 새로운 의상 구조로 나타났으며 유형은 원형의 왜곡, 개체의 혼합, 모티브의 반복, 착장의 변화가 있다. 셋째, 패션 디자인의 메타모포시스는 초현실성, 상징성, 유희성, 불확정성의 특성이 있다. 즉, 디자인 원리를 배제하여 초현실적 이미지로 연출하거나, 개체의 결합으로 사회적 메시지를 전달하고, 일상용품을 차용하여 유희적인 이미지를 표현했다. 또한착장 방식에 따라 의상의 구조가 변화되거나 하이테크놀로지로 형태와 텍스타일이 변화되는 불확정적인 디자인을 보여주었다. 넷째, 메타모포시스를 적용한 디자인은 왜곡, 과장, 강조, 은폐, 전치, 확대, 중첩, 오리가미, 컷아웃, 데페이즈망, 디지털 매핑 기법이 사용되었다. 본 연구는 메타모포시스에 대한구체적 연구 선례로서 메타모포시스가 디자인 방법으로 제시될 수 있음이 확인되었다. 앞으로도 메타모포시스에 대한 지속적인 연구가 진행되어 다양한 디자인이 계획되기를 기대한다.
Abstract
Modern fashion is expressed from a new perspective through metamorphosis. Namely, it is expressed as new forms with informal design. This study has an objective to present a design method used as a way of delivering the stories of artworks by proposing the types and characteristics of metamorphosis in fashion. The research object is the case of metamorphosis expressed in fashion design. The research method combined literature and case studies in art, and in fashion, the current collections of Gareth Pugh, Rick Owens, Moschino, Maison Margiela, Maison Schiaparelli, Viktor&Rolf, Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada, Alexander McQueen, Issey Miyake, Comme des Garçons, Thom Browne, Franck Sorbier, and Hussein Chalayan were analyzed. The analysis result is as below. First, metamorphosis means ‘transformation’ and ‘deformation’, and in literature, satire about characters and society is expressed with humorous stories. In art, the deconstruction from the object appeared. Second, in fashion, it appeared as new structures, and the types include distortion, mixing objects, overlapping motifs, and ways of dressing. Third, metamorphosis in fashion has the characteristics of surreality, symbolism, playfulness, and uncertainty. That is by excluding design principles, it was presented as a surreal image, or by conveying social messages through the combination of objects, and borrowing daily supplies, playful images were expressed. It also enables an uncertain design in which the structure of the costume changes depending on the way it is dressed or the shape or texture changes with high technology. Fourth, for the design to which metamorphosis was applied, distortion, exaggeration, emphasis, concealment, enlargement, overlapping, origamy, cutout, dépaysement, and digital mapping techniques were used. This study confirmed that metamorphosis can be presented as a design method as a specific precedent for metamorphosis. I hope various designs will be planned as continuous research on metamorphosis will be conducted in the future.
