한국선도와 ESG 경영의 공생 정신

ESG management was raised to maintain the sustainability of the planet and became a major trend of management because adverse results of companies’ extreme profit-seeking behavior such as environmental pollution and double polarization reached a level that threatened the existence of the planet. ESG management is a corporate management guideline aimed at the symbiosis of the global ecosystem and corporate stakeholders. The goal of the Korean Sundo is also symbiosis for Hongik people. Although ESG management and the Korean Sundo share the same idea of symbiosis, the former is being promoted focusing on regulations that enforce ESG activities rather than the incorporation of the symbiotic spirit of executives who are companies’ key decision makers. However, the Korean Sundo is an idea that can realize symbiosis by human’s self-training of mind and body. The Korean Sundo is people-oriented, and ESG management is regulation-centered. While ESG management has a clear goal for symbiotic management, it does not directly focusing on the symbiotic spirit of executives and managers. The Korean Sundo has a clear goal, ideological bases, and means of practice to realize symbiosis by mind-body trining. The best way to implement ESG management may be to enhance the spirit of symbiosis by mind-body training for managers and corporate stakeholders based on the Korean Sundo. Since the Korean Sundo is our own idea established 6000 years ago, we can take the lead and contribute to realize ESG management by cultivating a spirit of symbiosis through training.
