Analyzing Screening Test Intentions to Dementia based on Risk Perception, Efficacy Belief and Anticipated Regret

This study aimed to understand the effects on screening test intention to dementia by perceived risk, efficacy belief and anticipated regret. perceived risk and efficacy belief in this study are cognitive factors from Risk Perception Attitude(RPA) framework. To demonstrate the mechanism between these two cognitive factors and anticipated regret that is an emotional factor, a survey with 278 subjects was analyzed. As a result, it was demonstrated that how perceived risk, efficacy belief effect on anticipated regret and screening test intention to dementia. The mediating role of anticipated regret was significant regards on the link between perceived risk and screening test intention as well as between efficacy belief and test intention. The findings suggest efficacy belief and anticipated regret could be leveraged for health communication on dementia.
