A Study on the Trade Facilitation Level between China and South Korea

Since the global recession in 2008, the total volume and growth rate of world commodity trade have declined significantly. Meanwhile, trade protectionism around the world has increased, and trade conflicts have become more serious. In order to reduce trade costs and improve trade efficiency, countries around the world have explored how to simplify systems. Since the economic crisis, Chinese foreign trade development situation has been unsatisfactory, and the establishment of the Shanghai Free Trade Zone has become the largest experimental platform for promoting economic and trade exchanges and facilitating investment. However, neighboring South Korea has introduced corresponding policies and regulations over the past decade and actively promoted the facilitation of its foreign trade, which has led to adjustments in the economic structures of China and Korea and continued development of their foreign trade relationship. Based on these reasons, this study compared the tariff preferential policies of China and South Korea, and drew on relevant practices of South Korea’s tariff preferential policies in order to make recommendations for the formulation and improvement of China’s tariff preferential policies.
