특허정보를 이용한 개방형 혁신 추세 분석

초록
현대 기업은 글로벌화, 기술수명주기의 단축, 연구개발 지출의 확대라는 내외부 경영환경의 변화로 인한 매출 감소 및 비용 증가로 수익성 악화라는 상황에 직면하고 있다. 이를 극복하기 위한 하나의 수단으로 기업들은 개방형 혁신을 추구하고 있다. 본 연구는 우리나라에서의 개방형 혁신에 대한 추세를 연도별, 개방형 혁신 주체별, 산업별로 분석하는 것을 그 목적으로 한다. 개방형 혁신은 공동 출원 특허를 이용하여 정량적으로 측정하였다. 연구 대상기간은 2011년부터 2020년까지이며, 총 480,871개의 특허가 분석에 활용되었다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 개방형 혁신 비율은 과거부터 현재까지 꾸준히 증가하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 개방형 혁신은 산업계의 주도로 이루어지고 있으며, 파트너쉽의 형태는 산업계-산업계, 산업계-학계, 산업계-연구계, 산업계-정부순 이었다. 마지막으로 개방형 혁신은 자동차 제조업, 종합 건설업 등의 대형 장치산업에서 상대적으로 활발히 이루어지고 있는 것으로 나타났다.
Abstract
Companies are facing worsening profitability due to reduced sales and increased costs due to changes in the internal and external business environment such as globalization, shortening the technology life cycle, and expanding R&D spending. As a means of overcoming this, companies are pursuing open innovation. The purpose of this study is to analyze the trend of open innovation in Korea by year, by open innovation entity, and by industry. Open innovation was quantitatively measured using joint-application patents. The study period is from 2011 to 2020, and a total of 480,871 patents were used for analysis. The results of the study are as follows. First, the ratio of open innovation has been steadily increasing from the past to the present. Second, open innovation is being led by the industry, and the types of partnerships were industry-industry, industry-academia, industry-research, and industry-government. Finally, open innovation was found to be relatively active in large device industries such as automobile manufacturing and comprehensive construction.
