This paper explores the legal considerations surrounding personal injury in marathon racing events in China, with a focus on participant safety and minimizing legal liabilities, for Korea, who shares a similar interest in marathon racing as popular sporting events, and also hosts numerous marathon events, attracting participants from all over the world, to benefit from valuable insights to make continuous improvement of marathon events in Korea, ensure a safer and more enjoyable experience for all participants, and promote local tourism image. It emphasizes the significance of adhering to legal and regulatory requirements, securing necessary permits and approvals, developing emergency response plans, and collaborating with government authorities for effective security coordination. The paper employs the legal analysis framework, utilizes the research method of case study, and outlines the lessons learned from three cases, emphasizing compliance, safety measures, and eligibility checks. Through discussion, organizers are advised to implement strict safety protocols, conduct thorough eligibility checks, provide comprehensive information and warnings, obtain appropriate insurance coverage, and hire experienced staff, to mitigate legal risks. Participants are also encouraged to assess event risks, prioritize personal safety, and understand the safety measures implemented by organizers. The paper concludes the importance of prioritizing safety and offers guidance for reducing legal liabilities in marathon racing events through adherence to regulations, safety protocols, and collaboration with relevant authorities.
