벤처기업의 기술 전략 수립이 기술 및 R&D 역량과 개방형 혁신 활동에 미치는 영향*

초록
벤처기업의 경제적‧사회적 파급 효과가 증대되고 있음에 따라 정부는 물론 대기업에서도 스타트업에 대한 투자를 확대하고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 정부 R&D 참여 경험이 있는 벤처기업을 대상으로 지속 가능한 성장을 위한 기업 역량 구축과 개방형 혁신 활동을 촉진하는 선행요인을 탐색하고자 한다. 주요 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 벤처기업의 기술전략 수립은 기술 및 R&D 역량에 긍정적인 영향을 주었다. 기업의 전략 수립으로 가용 자원을 적절하게 할당함으로써 기술력 향상을 촉진하게 되는 것이다. 둘째, R&D 역량은 개방형 혁신 활동을 촉진하며 기술 전략 수립과 개방형 혁신 활동을 매개하는 역할을 하였다. 장기적 관점의 R&D 역량 강화를 위해 외부와 협력 활동을 추진하는 것이다. 마지막으로 벤처기업의 기술 역량은 개방형 혁신 활동에 영향을 미치지 않았다. 신제품 및 비즈니스 모델 개발 등 기술 역량을 보유하고 있는 벤처기업은 외부와 협력에 따른 계약적 불확실성, 기술 유출 우려 등으로 협업에 소극적인 것이다. 연구 결과는 벤처기업의 기술 전략 수립이 중요하며 정부의 R&D 투자는 기업의 전략 지향성 강화를 위해 다양한 지원방식의 검토가 필요할 것이다.
Abstract
The government and major companies are increasingly investing in startups. This study explores the factors that contribute to capabilities and open innovation activities in startups. The findings are as follows First, Technology strategy formulation positively impacts a startup's technology and research and development (R&D) capabilities. This allows for effective resource allocation and promotes technological improvement. Second, R&D capabilities promote open innovation activities in startups. From a long-term perspective, cooperative activities are promoted to utilize external capabilities for R&D. Finally, the technological competence of startups does not have a positive effect on open innovation activities. Startups with short-term technology capabilities, such as the development of new products and business models, are passive in their collaboration with the outside world due to contractual uncertainties and concerns over technology leakage. This study emphasizes the importance of technology strategy formulation in startups to enhance their capabilities. It is crucial for the government to review current methods and strengthen corporate strategic orientation.
